How many clinical hours does the Rasmussen FNP require?
The Rasmussen FNP track requires 600 clinical hours, completed as four sequential preceptor-supervised practicum courses of 150 hours each.
This is part of an online MSN built on 69 credits, with online coursework, an in-person community practicum, and one weekend on-campus residency. Because the practicums run in sequence, a delay finding a preceptor for one course can stall your progression into the next. That is exactly the point where a placement service protects your timeline.
The FNP specialization is CCNE-accredited at the master's level. Note that NP specializations do not meet APRN licensure educational requirements in Alabama, Idaho, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, so confirm your state before enrolling.
Doesn't Rasmussen find my FNP preceptor for me?
Rasmussen has a clinical practicum coordinator who, per its own pages, helps find and secure your site and preceptor. We work alongside that coordinator, not against it.
The honest picture is that Rasmussen's model is built around practicums completed "in your own community, possibly at your own organization." The default expectation is that you bring the site and preceptor from your own network. That works well if you already have a Master's or Doctoral prepared FNP willing to supervise all four rotations. It works poorly if your local network is thin, your employer will not host you, or a preceptor drops out mid-program.
