How Our Rasmussen Placement Works
We are an independent placement service, not Rasmussen University. Rasmussen has its own clinical practicum coordinator who helps students find and secure a site and preceptor. What we add is finding capacity: because Rasmussen practicums are designed to be completed in your own community and often at your own organization, the default expectation is that you bring the site and preceptor from your own network. We do that sourcing and vetting for you, faster and where your own network comes up short.

What exactly does your service do?
We source and vet a qualified preceptor and a clinical site in your own community so you can complete your Rasmussen NP practicum courses on schedule. We are independent from Rasmussen, so think of us as extra capacity for the part students most often get stuck on: finding a willing preceptor and a site that will actually host you.
Rasmussen's NP tracks are built around practicums completed in your own community, possibly at your own organization, under a Master's or Doctoral degree-prepared nurse preceptor. That model means the school expects you to bring the site and preceptor. When your personal and employer network comes up short, we step in and find one for you, then verify the preceptor's credentials and coordinate the paperwork the university requires.
Do you replace the Rasmussen clinical practicum coordinator?
No. We work alongside the coordinator, never against them. Rasmussen's own pages describe a clinical practicum coordinator who helps students find and secure the site and preceptor, and you should use that support fully.
Our role is complementary. The coordinator supports you through the university's process; we go out and actively source and vet an option in your community when your own network, employer, or timeline needs help. Everything we find still flows through Rasmussen's normal approval so your practicum counts.
What are the steps from sign-up to starting my practicum?
First we learn your track, your location, and your target start term. Then we search your community for a site and a preceptor who meet Rasmussen's requirements, confirm the preceptor is a Master's or Doctoral degree-prepared nurse, and confirm a cleared background check is in place where required. Finally we hand you a vetted match to run through Rasmussen's approval.
- Intake: we capture your NP track (FNP, AGPCNP, Pediatric Primary Care, or PMHNP), your city, and your practicum course sequence.
- Search: we identify sites and preceptors in your own community, including your own employer when appropriate.
- Vetting: we verify the preceptor holds a Master's or Doctoral nursing degree and confirm the required cleared background check.
- Handoff: you submit the match through Rasmussen's process so your practicum course is approved.
Which Rasmussen NP tracks do you place for?
We place for all four of Rasmussen's NP tracks, each of which is an online-coursework MSN with an in-person community practicum. The tracks are Family NP (FNP), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care NP (AGPCNP), Pediatric Primary Care NP, and Psychiatric Mental Health NP (PMHNP).
Each track is completed through four sequential preceptor-supervised practicum courses in your community, plus one weekend on-campus residency. Because every one of these courses needs a site and preceptor, we can help at any point in the sequence, not only the first rotation.
When do I pay, and what does it cost?
You pay when we match you, not before. Our fee is 1,500 to 2,500 per rotation depending on track, location, and how hard the site is to secure in your area.
Because Rasmussen's NP tracks run through four sequential practicum courses, some students engage us for a single hard-to-fill rotation and others for the full sequence. You decide rotation by rotation, and you only owe a fee once a match is confirmed.
Are there states where a Rasmussen NP specialization has extra limits?
Yes. Rasmussen states that its NP specializations do not meet the APRN licensure educational requirements in Alabama, Idaho, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. This is a licensure-eligibility matter set by the university and those states, not something a placement changes.
If you live or intend to practice in one of those states, confirm your licensure pathway directly with Rasmussen before committing. We can still source a community site and preceptor, but you should resolve the licensure question first so your plan holds together.
